Self Directed Project Research and Experiement

Happy Easter everyone!
It's been a few weeks since I updated this blog. This post has sat as a draft for a while. I have another (secret) blog on the go right now for community based practise, and It can be a bit difficult to keep both going. Well, that and I'm at a stage with this this project where I can actually write about it. I've had ideas for weeks, but getting them out of my head is a problem. It's like, when know the feeling of what you want to do, but you can't really explain it in a very logical way.

Anyway, enough rambling. I think all of us in the class have been really looking forward to the Self Directed project. So much so in fact  that we opted (in our wisdom) to beg for our two week Easter holiday to finish this brief. I'm just going to fly through the basics of the brief in this post....for anyone reading and myself to get reacquainted with it! The next post will start to get on with the project itself.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aims of the project:
1.Become more self-reliant and embark on self directed learning, research and experimenting in the studio.

2. Formulate a research project that is specific and individual to you. (This I like very much!)
  • Look over previous projects you may wish to develop further.
  • Work with materials you enjoyed but never had the time to fully develop.
  • And old project left behind which you always wanted to finish.
  • A new project that you have as yet not had time to develop.
3.This project is research and process orientated.
  • Be experimental
  • Take risks
  • Make mistakes
Learning Outcome:

  • Encourage students to find their own voice as visual artists.
  • Recognise the value of using and appropriating imagery/materials/ideas for yourself and acknowledging influences.
  • Create a bridge between project-based studio time and self-motivated studio practise.
